The spread of palm oil cultivation is a major driver of deforestation. An important development is therefore the support for the 2014 pledges for zero deforestation pledges by key corporate sector actors and prominent investments funds. This roundtable will analyse the opportunities for enhancing the sustainability of the palm oil value chain and strengthening land and forest tenure and the position of smallholders, with a focus on Indonesia, implementation strategies and monitoring approaches (greenhouse emissions reductions and other valuable ESG outcomes). This panel is organized by CIFOR and brings together leading experts, agribusiness firms and ESG investments funds.
