This 4-day workshop will promote a new generation of health impact evaluations for priority health programs in Nigeria. The new evaluations will aim to target several constraints to improving health outcomes and test alternative approaches to alleviate them in order to contribute to answering the broad question, “How do we maximize health outcomes through effective health service delivery” Impact evaluation is a powerful research and development tool to identify whether policies and programs are achieving their intended outcomes, and how to further improve these outcomes.
The workshop aims to build on the existing partnership between the Federal Ministry of Health (FMOH), the World Bank, and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation for the strategic use of impact evaluation in priority programs to improve evidence to inform decision-making and achieve better outcomes. The event will use the experiences, successes, and failures documented in previous impact evaluation studies in health as the basis for developing new impact evaluations in an effort to strengthen country capacity for evidence-based policy.
