The CO2-emissions from open fire cooking are a direct contribution to climate change. The GACC has the goal of supporting 100 million households to adopt clean and efficient cookstoves and fuels by 2020. Realising this ambition requires multi-stakeholder approaches with strong commitment from public, private, finance and development partners.

CREWS Climate Risk Early Warning Systems Press Conference, Institut Océanographique, 195 rue Saint-Jacques
Extreme weather events are among the most dramatic consequences of climate change. Vulnerable countries such as small island developing states and least developed countries suffer from the lack of early warning systems (EWS) that would allow prevention and risk reduction. At the Sendai Conference, and looking forward to COP21, France called upon the international community to support early warning systems as a way to reduce risk and to increase resilience for these countries. Endorsed by the G7, the CREWS initiative will rely on the top 3 international organizations (GFDRR/World Bank, UNISDR and WMO) for disaster risk reduction to provide financial and technical support to vulnerable countries. This event will be the official launch of the new partnership dedicated to support concrete adaptation and resilience project in most vulnerable countries.
