John Wilson

Senior Financial Sector Specialist, Finance & Markets

Mr. Wilson is a Senior Specialist on Secured Transactions with the World Bank Group, where he covers reform projects globally, but with specific emphasis on the Latin America and the Caribbean Region. He has over 15 years¡¯ experience in the development and implementation of secured transactions systems and collateral registries at the multilateral and local level.

Before joining WBG, he served as Senior Officer with the International Institute for the Unification of Private Law (UNIDROIT) in Rome, where oversaw an effort for drafting a legislative guide on securities trading in emerging markets, and provided follow-up and local implementation support to the Geneva Securities Convention, Close-out Netting, and the Cape Town Convention on Interests in Mobile Equipment.

Prior to that, Mr. Wilson headed the area of Private International Law at the Organization of American States in Washington, DC, where his principal duties included the drafting, adoption and implementation of conventions and other commercial legal instruments in the Americas.

Mr. Wilson, based in Panama City, is a graduate of the University of Arizona, College of Law.
