Alberto Zezza

Program Manager, Development Data Group

Alberto Zezza is a Program Manager for the Living Standards Measurement Study (LSMS), the World Bank¡¯s flagship household survey program housed at the Development Data Group. His research interests are in survey methods, agricultural and rural development, and food security. As part of the LSMS, he leads efforts to improve the availability and quality of agricultural, food and rural data in multi-topic household surveys.

Prior to joining the World Bank, Alberto was with the Agricultural Development Economics Division of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO). He holds a Ph.D. in Agricultural and Development Economics from the University of Rome, a M.A. in Development Economics from the University of Sussex, and a degree in Economics from the University of Naples ¡°Federico II¡±.


  • The Living Standards Measurement Study (LSMS) and the Living Standards Measurement Study-Integrated Surveys on Agriculture (LSMS-ISA) were established to explore ways of improving the type and quality of household data collected by statistical offices in developing countries. The goal is to foster increased use of household data as a basis for policy decisionmaking.
