Abdelhak Bedjaoui


Abdelhak Bedjaoui, an Algerian National, is the World Bank Group Executive Director since November 2024 representing Afghanistan, Algeria, Ghana, Islamic Republic of Iran, Morocco, Pakistan, and Tunisia. Prior to this role, he was the Alternate Executive Director from November 2022.  Prior to this position, he served as the Executive Director of the same constituency from November 2020 to October 2022.

Prior to joining the WBG Board, Mr. Bedjaoui held senior positions in the Algerian Ministry of Finance (1992-2020), including Director General of External Economic and Financial Relations, Director of External Financial Relations, Advisor to the Minister of the Economy, and Advisor to the Delegate Minister for Treasury.

He also served as the National Program Director for the Sixth Framework of the United Nations Development Program and represented Algeria on various Boards of Directors as a member and Chairman of national companies, as well as international financial institutions. Mr. Bedjaoui serves on the Committee on the Development Effectiveness (CODE) and is a member of the Ethics Committee (EC).
