GWSP: Financing the Water Sector

Image

Training

Financial viability of water service providers starts at the governance level. A well-governed and regulated water sector is the base for financially sustainable water utilities. When the right foundations are in place and when utilities are incentivized properly, they are encouraged to run their operations in a technical and financially sustainable manner. Therefore, technical, financial and regulatory aspects are interlinked.

The Water Practice has developed training material for water utility staff and governing bodies. The training aims at creating a better understanding for interlinkages between governance and the financial performance of utilities, and how sound financial performance can open up new types of funding sources.
