Since 2000, 39 low-income countries have graduated to middle-income status. But the 26 low-income countries today face more daunting prospects for economic growth. Under current trends, only six are on course to graduate by 2050. But with the right policies, these countries could draw on opportunities to unlock their untapped growth potential. Joseph Mawejje, Economist with the World Bank¡¯s Prospects Group, draws from the latest Global Economic Prospects report to explain what these countries can learn from past success stories.
