Follow the forest rangers in Son Tra Peninsula in Vietnam on their daily patrol where they discover traps and snares that poachers and hunters use to capture the endangered primate, the Red-shanked Douc Langur. Known in Vietnam as the “queen of primates,” these doucs have drastically declined by more than 50% in the last three decades from poaching, hunting, and forest loss. Protecting these primates requires daily patrolling, landscape planning to reduce habitat loss, and raising awareness with local communities. The Global Wildlife Program, led by the World Bank and funded by the Global Environment Facility is working with the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources of Vietnam to enhance national capacity to implement and enforce wildlife laws and protect the remaining wildlife populations in Vietnam.
