For the past five decades, the World Bank Group has been a development partner in Nepal, providing financing, technical assistance and advice. Over the years, the Bank’s support has evolved in focus and form to meet the changing needs of Nepal. This partnership however has always maintained a primary purpose - the reduction of poverty to raise the living standards of the Nepali people.

Swarnim Yatra – A Remarkable Journey

Swarnim Yatra is a celebration of this partnership and of this continuous journey. Above all, it is a celebration of a nation of remarkably resilient people, achieving impressive development results in the face of tremendous challenges.

These development results are showcased through photographs, videos (see Related), and a slideshow depicting how Nepali men and women are transforming their lives whether it is a young girl who now has a chance to go to school, or a farmer who can now transport his vegetables to the market or a rural entrepreneur who has big dreams for her family.

The showcased results focus on four themes:

  • Enhancing Inclusive Growth and Productivity
  • Enhancing Human Potential
  • Building Better Lives
  • Promoting Gender Equality
