ECA Talk: Getting to Net-Zero in Europe and Central Asia ¨C Fighting Climate Change with Data

January 24, 2024
Virtual

by Wolfgang Fengler, the CEO of the World Data Lab

The countries of Europe and Central Asia (ECA) are among the highest carbon emitters per capita in the world. Transitioning to cleaner energy is crucial for the region to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, achieve energy security, and bolster economic growth.

This ECA Talk will present the ¡°¡± and the underlying data model, which includes greenhouse gas projections for 180 countries, including all ECA countries, 5 sectors, and 24 subsectors in 3 scenarios until 2050. This dataset allows for benchmarking each country¡¯s sector against peers and best-practices. It also provides the basis for a new that helps to differentiate between low, medium, and high emitters and analyze pathways of becoming ¡°rich and clean.¡±
