Marlene Suzie Nzengou

Ms. Marlene Suzie Nzengou, a citizen of the Central African Republic (CAR), currently serves as the World Bank Group (WBG) Alternate Executive Director for the Africa Group II. She took office on November 25, 2024. She brings to this position 26 years of experience in the multilateral development system and diplomacy, including international experience in political affairs, conflict prevention, management and resolution, as well as peacebuilding and socio-economic development. She also served as Advisor to the Executive Director for the Africa Group II at the WBG from December 2021 to November 2024.

Before joining the WBG Board of Executive Directors, she served for three years as Special Assistant/Political Affairs Officer to the Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General for Central Africa/Head of the United Nations Regional Office for Central Africa (UNOCA), in Libreville (Gabon). Prior to that, she served as Political Affairs Officer, successively at UNOCA, the United Nations Integrated Peacebuilding Office in Guinea-Bissau (UNIOGBIS), the United Nations Office to the African Union (UNOAU) in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, and the Africa II Division of the Department of Political Affairs at the United Nations Secretariat in New York. Earlier, she held, in CAR, the positions of Communications Officer at the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Public Information Assistant and Education Assistant at the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), and Social Communication Assistant at the National Programme for the Disarmament, Demobilization and Reintegration of ex-combatants (PNDR-UNDP). In addition, she worked as a volunteer at a private radio station (Radio Ndeke Luka) in Bangui, CAR, producing a weekly program on health and a daily program on historical events as well as radio jingles.

Her commitment to serve the most disadvantaged led her, in 2013, to cofound a Christian nonprofit nongovernmental organization (Pray-Act-Serve, House Of Prayer For All Nations ¨C P.A.S. HOPFAN), which is headquartered in Bangui and provides assistance to widows and orphans and carries out other spiritual, humanitarian and socio-economic activities.

Ms. Marlene Suzie Nzengou holds a Master¡¯s degree in Information and Communication with specialization in Journalism from Universit¨¦ Jean Moulin (Lyon III) and an undergraduate degree (¡°DEUG¡±) in Applied Foreign Languages (Translation into French, English, and Spanish) from Universit¨¦ Lumi¨¨re (Lyon II), in France. She co-authored two poetry books and co-released two albums of Christian songs and poems with the President of P.A.S. HOPFAN as part of the organization¡¯s activities.
