Issa Diaw is the World Bank Group's Country Manager for Guinea since July 1st, 2024. He previously was the Bank¡¯s Country Manager for Guinea. Before that he had served as Deputy Director of Operations for the Democratic Republic of Congo, Angola, Burundi, and Sao Tom¨¦. A Senegalese national, he joined the Bank in 2008 as a senior electrical engineer after a 23-year career in the energy sector. He has held several positions as a senior energy specialist in the South Asia and Africa regions, then as manager of World Bank Group infrastructure programs covering Angola, Cameroon, Gabon and Sao Tome and Principe.
An electromechanical engineer, he is a graduate of the ?cole Sup¨¦rieure Interafricaine d¡¯Electricit¨¦. He holds a master's degree in energy systems with a concentration in economics and management from the ?cole Polytechnique F¨¦d¨¦rale de Lausanne, Switzerland, and a specialized master's degree in power system design and operation from the Institut National Polytechnique de Grenoble, France.
The Guinea office is one of 21 World Bank Group offices transitioning to a single World Bank Group Country Manager or Resident Representative for the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD), International Development Association (Å·ÃÀÈÕb´óƬ), the International Finance Corporation (IFC), and the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA).
